Although they'll feel like they're in the middle of a Saturday morning cartoon along the lines of a Scooby-Doo mystery, kids will actually be practicing a huge range of fourth grade skills when they take on this Egyptian adventure. Players must help the ClueFinders, four clever kids who like to solve mysteries, stop a diabolical archeologist from unleashing an ancient evil force upon the world. To do this, they explore the city of Cairo, playing math, reading and geography games. In one locale, kids have to read passages about Egyptian history and in another, use their map skills to route packages to their correct destinations. As they solve the problems, children are awarded "cairoglyphs" that help them solve the mystery. Once all the challenges have been met in Cairo, it's off to the Nile kingdom where kids take on puzzles in the areas of vocabulary, science and math. Players will practice adding decimals as they build a palace and will use their knowledge of mass, force and angles to construct a bridge. Children are awarded gemstones for their successes, and these, too, come in handy as they try to stop the villain. Finally, the kids end up in an ancient pyramid where they must spell words and solve math word problems to gain entrance to the evil archaeologist's hideout to thwart his terrible plan. This program is jam-packed with content and there are many, many opportunities to practice skills. The format is highly engaging. In fact, kids wanted to take this one all the way to the end, which meant hours and hours of play.
